Madison Park

Create a livable and private entertainment space  on a lot that backs up onto a new, large scale development looking down on this urban professional and her active dog.

A new, multi story development will soon be built directly behind this small urban garden, so privacy and reorienting the space were primary elements of the design.

The old and small deck was replaced with a larger deck and built in cooking area to serve as the entertainment hub off the back of the house. Two small pony walls break up the lengthy backyard and provide a visual frame for the surrounding floral display. Dwarf crab apples provide overhead structure to the central garden space and reorient the view from the deck. At the back of the garden, tall trees provide screening to the development behind and the existing shed is re-envisioned as a party shed with a fire pit and lounge area that faces the home.
